This page lists all the skill rune effects for Companion, a Discipline-spending Demon Hunter skill that summons a companion animal.

Raven Companion[edit | edit source]

The base version of Companion summons a Raven Companion that flies around, occasionally pecking at enemies for negligible damage. There is no functional reason to use this version, other than for the amusement of Edgar Allen Poe fans.

Spider Companion[edit | edit source]

Spider Companion.

This rune effect summons a spider that attacks enemies, slowing their movement speed by 60% for two seconds. This effect is basically a duplication of Entangling Shot, except slower and targeted unpredictably.

Bat Companion[edit | edit source]

Bat Companion.

This rune effect summons a bat that flaps around, granting the Demon Hunter a steady regeneration of 3 Hatred per second. This is on top of the normal Hatred regeneration, and the Hatred earned by using various skills.

The bat does not attack enemies or get attacked by them, and this effect is essentially a winged-Aura, for intents and purposes.

Boar Companion[edit | edit source]

Boar Companion.

This rune effect summons a boar companion. The stout little snuffler will attack demons, dealing AoE damage to the Demon Hunter's enemies.

The damage isn't especially impactful, but it is a steady boost without any cost or thought required on the Demon Hunter's part.

Ferret Companion[edit | edit source]

Ferret Companion.

This rune effect summons ferrets that scurry around like the gold pets did before they were removed during beta testing.

These ferrets do not help the Demon Hunter in combat, but they are cute, they grant a 10% gold find bonus, and they pick up the gold that drops, saving the Demon Hunter the time it would require to gather the coins herself.

Wolf Companion[edit | edit source]

Wolf Companion.

This rune effect summons a wolf, which attacks enemies for 60% of the Demon Hunter's weapon damage. Unlike the other animal companions which last indefinitely, the wolf only persists for 25 seconds.

As with most of other semi-passive attacks in Diablo III, the damage isn't very high, but the "fire and forget" function can make this companion a helpful asset, especially on higher difficulty levels against Elites, when the Demon Hunter has her hands full running, Vaulting, and debuffing the enemies.
