The Cloak of the Garwulf.

The Cloak of the Garwulf is a legendary cloak that can be found in Diablo 3 and Reaper of Souls. This item can only be equipped by the Demon Hunter, and will only very rarely drop for any other class.

The Smart Drop system ensures that cloaks will usually roll with Dexterity, or at least never roll with Strength or Intelligence. Any bonus skill damage will be tuned to Demon Hunter skills as well.

The Cloak of the Garwulf properties[edit | edit source]

This item's legendary affix grants three wolves, instead of one, when using the Companion skill. Each wolf does the same 150% weapon damage as a single wolf, effectively tripling the already significant damage output of these pets. Players with 3 wolves at once enjoy very effective tanking by the wolves, as well as considerably increased damage. It can be quite fun to just stand and watch the wolves take out single enemies, such as Treasure Goblins.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

This item is named after Garwulf, AKA Robert Marks, a well-known figure in the Diablo 2 community due to his Garwulf's Corner column, hosted and curated by Diabloii.net from 2001-2003.

Blizzard North's Diablo 2 developers honored numerous community members by placing their names in the game, chiefly as hireable mercenaries. Thus far Diablo 3 has included almost zero fan anything in the game, while finding space to include the name of practically every developer and CM (see Easter Eggs) as a monster or item or quest or other such nod to themselves.
