Bosses in the Diablo games come in various shapes and forms. From the randomly generated mini-bosses on a level to Superunique big quest boss like Diablo, they are all bosses of some description.

Diablo III Bosses

It is not yet confirmed exactly how the D3 Team is handling bosses in Diablo III. It seems likely that they will apply a similar structure to that of Diablo II, where the more important bosses are called "SuperUnique"s, which basically mean they have a name and personalised stastistics and attributes. Seeing the WWI 2008 gameplay video, it also seems likely that they will vary greatly in appearance, abilities and intelligence as well. SuperUniques are usually found in fixed locations and are often part of a quest or other special event. Only a few such monsters have yet been revealed in Diablo III, and they can be found on the SuperUniques article.

Quest bosses are superuniques (and sometimes act bosses) who must be defeated to finish quests and advance through the game. It can be any significance of a boss, such as the Butcher from Diablo I or Diablo himself. Only one is known so far (King Leoric), but more will be added as they are revealed by the Diablo 3 development team.
