The Dreadlands are the former Barbarian Highlands, also once called the Northern Steppes.

Background[edit | edit source]

After the events of Diablo II, resulting in the destruction of the Worldstone, the land has become barren as the Barbarians who used to protect it have left, thus earning it the name of Dreadlands.

The Dreadlands, specifically Bronn, was once visted by Abd al-Hazir after its destruction and he lamented that the once-beautiful place had been forever changed by the great calamity and now lay as ruined cities and a bleak landscape fit for no living thing.
