A Desecrated Corpse is an in-game object, like a chest, that when clicked on, will drop randomized loot. Gold, Weapons, Armor, Runes and Potions have a chance to drop, players who will seek these objects out, will be better equipped. They are found in large numbers scattered across the desert, and maybe other areas.

The Locations of these Objects are randomized, and if Diablo 3 is anything like Diablo 2, restarting the game will cause these objects to randomize again, among other things.

Desecrated Corpses were first seen in the GamesCom 2009 demo, it is unknown if they have a constant drop rate on some items, like gold, but from videos from GamesCom 2009, it can be seen that both of the Desecrated Corpses dropped gold, Make assumptions at your own risk.
