The Channeller is a caster class able to choose how to deal with enemies through melding with the magic they control. A Channeller can be an offensive caster, a debuffer, melee fighter or buffer depending on circumstances.

Channellers are men and women born with the ability to absorb, meld, and control the various energies that exist in the world. The incredible scope of the energies they wield cause them to be consumed. For better or worse, not only their personalities, but their entire beings are shaped by the wild energies that flow through them. Their have been attempts to teach, mentor, and control them but all to little avail. Legend has it that the Archangels were all once men and women who became permanently one with the light, and the lords of Hate, Terror, and Destruction are simply the master channellers of those energies. It is not known whether these legends are true, but once one has seen a man wield true power, one begins to wonder...

Class Design[edit source]

By nature this class is extremely maliable. The player decides what the character becomes. While the class is rooted in casting, melee builds can be very formidable. While light skills are weakened by the use of darkness skills, energy skills blend well with both and it can be worked around.

Channeller Skills[edit source]

The channeller skills are arranged into to three distinctive skill tree categories:

  • Darkness
  • Light
  • Energy.

All three trees have a combination of active and passive skills. Active skills are used in combat, while the passive skills boost or change the behaviour of the active skills.

Darkness Skills[edit source]

The Darkness tree skills Channel the energies that, while not neccissarily evil, can only be described as dark, negative, or distasteful: hate, fear, jealousy, rage. Spells tend to follow similar patterns. They are usually brutal, powerful, and costly to both parties involved.

Light Skills[edit source]

The Light tree skills Channels the most grand and beautiful energies to be had: love, courage, kindness. The channeler is able to focus these energies into tangible power, which by its very nature can only be used effectively by those with the purest of hearts. It's power is significantly diminished by the use of dark magics.

Energy Skills[edit source]

The Energy tree skills To perform these skills, the channeller takes in raw energy in all forms, from kinetic to the powers of hatred and hope. The raw energy becomes a part of the channeller, an extension of his or her own will. It is theirs to do with as they please, therefore this tree lends a good amount of variety to the channeller's arsenal.

Development[edit source]

Kylemzimmer came up with this idea a while ago and didn't do anything with it. Then I saw a competition in the Gamer's Vault, which I decided to join and this is my entry.

Trivia[edit source]

Channellers are often thought to have split personalities, because if they choose to use different types of magic, everything about them changes instantly. Some even keep different names, because the different personalties created by the magic often find each other repulsive.
