Wall of Man

The Wall of Man shield database.

The Wall of Man is a crafted legendary shield that can only be created in Reaper of Souls. After Patch 2.0.6 this item no longer requires Human Cartilage or any legendary materials to craft.

To create this item, find the Plan: Wall of Man, which can be randomly dropped randomly by any level 70 target, and teach the plan to the Blacksmith. Once learned by the smith, any character on your account can make as many of these as you can afford to create.

Wall of Man properties

This shield is all defensive in properties, with a big inherent bonus to blocking rate, plus a legendary property that creates a protective wall of bones when the characters takes hits. It's mostly used by Crusaders, but the DiabloNut armory shows a smattering of other classes, often Hardcore, with this shield equipped.

Named for the Battle of Josqueira, a conflict so long and fierce that men used the skeletons of their fallen comrades to build fortifications.

Crafting

Once a player finds the randomly-dropped plan and teaches it to the Blacksmith, the item can be created by any character on that account. This item always has a lvl 70 requirement, no matter what level character crafts it. The Smart Loot system means that this item will usually roll with a mainstat and/or +skill damage bonus appropriate to the class of the character that creates it.

Patch 2.0.6 controversially[1] removed Legendary Materials, which changed the crafting costs for every level 70 RoS recipe. Prior to that patch Wall of Man required 1 Human Cartilage, 1 [[Marquise Diamond], and zero Deaths Breath.

Legendary Material

Legendary Materials were controversially[2] removed in Patch 2.0.6. The following is archived for posterity.

The required legendary material, Human Cartilage is only dropped by Unique (purple) Unburied, the huge, slow, spiky, hard-hitting undead most often seen in Act One. Bounty -- Kankerrot, Act 1, Weeping Hollow. Fixed -- Manglemaw, Act 1, Defiled Crypt level 2, below the Cemetery of the Forsaken. (Fixed spawn on quest in story mode. Cudglearm, Act 1, Cathedral Level 2. Event -- Tormented Behemoth, Act 1, Halls of Agony Level 2. (Spawns during the A Stranger in Need event.}
