Use this boilerplate article as a guideline on how to make Monster articles.

If you have already read all the instructions in this boilerplate, you might find it easier to use the copy+paste article to copy and paste to your new article:

Make sure to read up on the help section, so you know how to properly edit articles before continuing.

First add a brief intro about the article, above all the headlines. Make sure to have the name of the article in the first three words of the first sentence, and bold it. Keep it as short and descriptive as possible. One or two lines of text.

If the article is a fan monster, make sure to add the {{fanmade}} header template (see Template:Fanmade for help). Also add the "|Name_of_author" attribute to give credit to the author, or yourself, whomever originally came up with the idea. Also credit any fan artists that might have helped.

Secondly, under the first headline, update the Monsterbox. This one is just here as an example on how it can look:

  • Monster info.
  • Talk about the monster in the game.
  • AI and strategies against them.
  • Anything else that is interesting about the representation of the character in the game, or differences from previous games.
  • An image can be nice here. Thumb aligned left.

Spells and Abilities

List all the spells or abilities any given monster has that is beyond "auto-attack".

Known X Types

Use on a "family" monster article.

  • Can be used in "Goatman" or the like
  • Display the different types of enemies, like weapon/equipment carried, or behaviour difference.
  • Example: Warrior, Archer, Mage

Known Subtypes

Use on a a "family" monster article, or a "sub-family" monster article.

  • Can be used in "Goatman" or the like
  • Can be used in "Goatman Shaman" or the like
  • Use for things like clan/colouring of same type of enemy
  • Example: Moon Clan, Blood Clan, Death Clan

Related Monsters

List any monster that has a relevance, such as other goatmen, or Grotesque/Lamprey.


Lore section. Writing style should be "in-world" encyclopaedic.


Bestiary entry as it appears in the game.

Diablo I Monster

Add this section if you need to discuss Diablo I game monsters of the same name/type.

Diablo II Monster

Add this section if you need to discuss Diablo II game monsters of the same name/type.


Notes from development of monster. Might have changed between games, or during Alpha/Beta/Release stages.

Fun facts. If you add a trivia fact, also add the it to the Category:Trivia.
