As you cross the small bridge into [[Alcarnus]] you will receive a bonus quest to release eight prisoners from cages that you can find dotted around Alcarnus and its dungeons. For your troubles you will be rewarded with XP and gold.
[[File:Lair of the witch.jpg|left|thumb|200px|[[Maghda]]'s minions]]Check out the very north edge of Alcarnus for the body of a member of the Iron Wolves which will have a copy of the [[Iron Wolf Captain's Journal]] which forms part of the [[Judge of Character]] achievement.
At the back of Alcarnus you'll come to the [[Lair of the Witch]], the witch being [[Maghda]]. Once you enter the lair you will not be able to exit until [[Maghda]] is dead (finally). It is a small lair with 7 columns which serve as shields to run rings around the [[Thrall]]s she raises in increasing numbers. She is immune while they are alive thanks to her [[Shielding]] so you'll need to keep on her hard in the short period between raising them.
Once she is dead she should leave a couple of rares for you if it's the first time you've killed her on that difficulty and a piece of lore, [[Maghda, Leader of the Coven]].
Return to the [[Hidden Camp]] with your portal and on to [[A Royal Audience]] quest.
