Typosfixing is cool

Hello Vipermagi! I saw your typo fix on the Berserker. Did I manage to encourage you to pitch in from one of my very verbose wiki news posts? =) --Leord 15:13, 18 November 2008 (CET)

I feel bad for responding this late D: Anyways, I dripped onto the wiki from the forums, and made an account (I like wikis). Just found that typo after reading through everything in a looong moment of boredom.
What I noticed today is that diffs (ex.) are completely unreadable; White texts on a very light yellow / green / gray background. Eew. --Vipermagi 15:05, 25 December 2008 (CET)
I thought that problem with the diff pages was just me... a local browser problem... I guess misery really does love company...
--belushi81x 18:01, 25 December 2008 (CET)
Since the .css (Cascading Style Sheet; layout of the wiki) is global, it's very unlikely it's a browser specific problem. However, it's possible to change it for oneself, in special:mypage/monobook.css (assuming you're using the Monobook skin, which is the standard. This can be changed in special:preferences, though). I'm no genius on that, though :< --Vipermagi 14:20, 26 December 2008 (CET)
Hmm... tried all the skins available in the prefs page, aside from the diff pages, tho, I really didn't like a one of them. I guess I'll have to read up n how to modify that special:mypage/monobook.css... or ask an admin to modify the global one you were talking about...
--belushi81x 21:58, 26 December 2008 (CET)
Haha, cool to see this page turned out to a proper discussion! =D I have been annoyed by that colour for a long time, and since we are now starting to accumulate some more serious contributors that USE the page more (I just select the text to see it), I can contact Rushster and demand some small 5 min dev time to fix the CSS for everyone! =) If you can just survive until after Christmas and New years, I'll have it sorted! =) --Leord 14:38, 27 December 2008 (CET)
BTW, brought the wish for style change forward to developer. =) He said he was aware of it, and "it's on the list". =) --Leord 18:53, 12 January 2009 (CET)

Grats on User Page

It's an as good start as any. I should make my one more pretty as well. =) --Leord 14:47, 27 December 2008 (CET)

Wiki Technicalities

You said you know a bit about wikis. Do you mean you're well aware of the regular markup, or do you mean that you're really good with technicalities ant templates? I wouldn't mind some help with some of that, as I lack a little bit of knowledge in the inner inner workings of the wiki =) --Leord 18:53, 12 January 2009 (CET)

I'm a sysop on GuildWiki (same name there), and dabble about in code every now and then. I might be able to help here and there, but it really depends on what you need. However, I can always ask Ishmael over there, when needed. He's a genius. --Vipermagi 21:56, 13 January 2009 (CET)
Cool. any clue about things like simple java scripts on a wiki, or templates that have like "if" commands in them? I know unfortunately nothing about java scripts, so that doesn't help much =/ --Leord 12:09, 14 January 2009 (CET)
I used to be a programmer in a past life... didn't play with Java script much, but I may be able to help you, if I knew what exactly it was you wanted.
--Belushi81x 13:58, 14 Jan 2009 (CET)
I can always try :) However, I neither have any form of .js experience; I just rip other people's .js' ^^" --Vipermagi 17:16, 14 January 2009 (CET)
Well, it has a lot just to do with how to implement scripts in a wiki, really. Normally you can't do that. So the question is really if you guys know of how to manipulate a wiki on the code side of things! ^^ --Leord 16:08, 16 January 2009 (CET)
Manipulate a wiki? As in, indoctrinate people how awesome a certain person would be, or changing the skin of the Wiki? :P Both are do-able in .css and .js files. Css example to change the New Messages box *:
div.usermessage { color:#4466cc; background: #CC0000}
This will make the new messages box a dark red (it's what I currently have on GuildWiki, to make it stand out a lot; it would be surprisingly fitting here I think :P ). You can change almost any element of a wiki page by such things, by editing special:mypage/monobook.css. Note that the mypage link is for you specifically. You can also change it for everyone, here (for all users) / here (only users using Monobook; default skin). You need to be a sysop to edit such pages, though.
And if neither of those things is what you meant; I just wasted 15 minutes of my life :P
*= presumably. I haven't gotten the chance to actually test it here; might be a different name. --Vipermagi 12:39, 17 January 2009 (CET)

Updates

Hey there, lots of very nice updates recently. The Mongrel for one! =) Check out Belushi's talk page, I was thinking of revamping the skills, and you could help! --Leord 17:08, 26 February 2009 (CET)

this would've been a better example (since that was slightly above the usual nit-picking ^^). Other than that; responded and made a draft (Paint-style). --Vipermagi 11:23, 28 February 2009 (CET)

Poke

Made a reply on my talk page =D --Leord 11:56, 10 March 2009 (CET)

You don't have to poke me (ouch!); my special:Watchlist does that for me ;) And nowadays there's few edits on a day, so they'll all pop up on RC. </random> --Vipermagi 12:20, 10 March 2009 (CET)
Hehe, that's cool =) I usually miss these things as I don't automatically check watchlist, and there are no automated messages to help me when there are watchlist updates. I don't mind a poke if you reply on some other page. Like the The Skeleton King talk page, where I left you a message ;) --Leord 16:45, 7 April 2009 (CEST)

*Rage*

Lol @ your Abd al-Hazir rage =) --Leord 16:08, 16 April 2009 (CEST)

WD

Good call. also added description to the page.

And a timestamp :P --Leord 12:51, 8 June 2009 (CEST)

Skills Again

Hello Viper! So, I have now started for real to convert skills into a new shape. I created the Boilerplate:Skill for it, where you can see my idea of how a skill page should look. I am still making changes to it as I started on Magic Missile, noticing things that needs improvements in both the Skillbox and the boilerplate itself. Feel free to pitch in, but start in another skill tree than Arcane, so we don't start to do double work.

Also, how is the traditional way to make archives of talk pages again? I do need to make one of mine... --Leord 16:07, 6 July 2009 (CEST)

Magic Missile is looking fine. I like the Infobox to the right. I don't have much motivation nor the energy to do anything beyond school at the moment, though (and even that, I screw up).
As for archiving; Our previous discussion on that quickly changed to a discussion about your Bureaucrat status (or rather, lack thereof).
I'm used to using the Move function, and then removing the redirect left on the 'real' talk page. You can use plain links on your talk page to archives (as I would do), you can create a pretty box to go with it and find a suiting icon.. You can also just not link to the archive at all, if you want :P
However, there's other archiving methods. One is just copying the contents over to a different page. It's very easy, and requires only 2 edits (removing content, pasting it on other page). One downside to this is that the History tab is empty on the archive. This information would still be stored on your 'real' talk page.
Last, and possibly least (imo), is the option of just removing all comments, not placing them elsewhere. The history tab will still retain all information.
That's all I can think of.
tl;dr: Use the Move tab on the top of the page :) --Vipermagi 18:01, 6 July 2009 (CEST)
