Greetings

Hello! =)

I just wanted to make a comment here, so your talk page doesn't appear red in the "recent changes" page ;) If you want to make a reply, make sure to sign your comments (if you need help with that: Help:Talk) --Leord 17:22, 23 October 2008 (CEST)

What's 3 "M"s????

So... What's with the extra "M" you added onto the "MMORPG" article??? --belushi81x 17:05, 25 Dec 2008 (CEST)

He apparently saw it and fixed it =) --Leord 14:42, 27 December 2008 (CET)

Yeah, typos happen. Sometimes even in page titles. Anyone is welcome to fix minor errors like that; you don't need to message admins or the page creator in such instances. -- Flux

A small question...

How to have an internal link going to a category? i wanna make a link to the Jewelry Category, but i cant, because if i specify category, it sends the word jewelry to the categories at the bottom of the article. and if i dont specify its a category, then it links to Jewelry article, and that doesnt exist... please help. --DxAxxxTyriel 11:08, 4 April 2009 (CEST)

put a : in front of the name, inside the brackets, and it will not make that a link to the category. Add the "pipe trick" like you do with any other link.
Example:
Leord and I have had "add a bunch of basic wiki tips and tricks to the help page" on our to-do list forever, but there always seems to be something more pressing. Wikipedia.org has exhaustive help pages, but they're so long that it's hard to find what you want. The cheat sheet is useful -- someday I've got to learn how to do footnotes properly. *cough* -Flux 12:22, 5 April 2009 (CEST)
Thx mate... And is it possible 2 rename articles? 2 articles need to be renamed, nothing serious, just so it they are Correctly Written... with caps in the right spots...

yeah, mention them here or email me or leord or you can post them in the wiki support forum.
It's generally helpful to make redirect pages for caps or non-caps, since the wiki search engine is so stupid about case sensitivity. I've taken to mostly doing categories and page names in lowercase, just so I don't have to try to remember which ones are caps and which are not. Also note that one word page names are not case sensitive; monsters = Monsters, since the first word in a title gets capitalized automatically by the page title. -Flux 12:32, 5 April 2009 (CEST)
Critical hits should be Critical Hits.... agreed?
I suppose so, but it's not something I'd worry about, despite beign something of a grammar nazi at times. There should be both pages, with one redirecting. Just copy the entire lowercase page, make that a redirect, and paste it into the uppercase name version, if it's important to you. -Flux 14:25, 5 April 2009 (CEST)
being a grammar nazi is fun ^^... anywho, its not that important + i dont understand ur explanation... by ur explanation i think i have to make a copy of the article...am i right? --DxAxxxTyriel 15:54, 5 April 2009 (CEST)
Use the [move] tab at the ~top of the page (It's next to History, which is next to the Edit button :P ) --Vipermagi 17:11, 5 April 2009 (CEST)
I was under the impression that only admins could use the move, protect, and delete buttons? If move is open to all, then yeah, that's an easier way. Moving a page automatically creates a redirect link from the old to the new. -Flux 23:18, 5 April 2009 (CEST)
Just saw this discussion and thought I'd chime in. The case sensitivity is unfortunate, and is actually an aspect of the server's operating system (Linux). When I first starting messing around in here, Leord mentioned to be that the general rule of thumb was to capitalize the first letter and lowercase the rest, unless they're proper nouns. I don't know if that still stands, but I agree it's not a big deal. BTW Flux, Protect and Delete are still hidden from users, so not all is lost. =]
--Azymn 03:01, 6 April 2009 (CEST)

Ok, sorry for sorting your talk page in a traditional talk page manner, I just need to see who wrote what. =)
Anyway, do NOT move around pages that are descriptive titles like a Critical hit. If an article we make is made from some sort of name, like a Hydra Rune, then use the capitalization. There are no problems with the server wither way, but it's a lot easier to make links, and it's common wikipedia custom do name articles in this fashion. =)
Please everyone check out the Help section. I spent lots of time writing it, and it handles more or less everything you would come across in the wiki! The following pages cover all the above questions: moving articles, making links of any kind and naming policies. Also, as Flux said, we need redirects as well, so check out redirects for further info. --Leord 16:34, 7 April 2009 (CEST)
PS. If "Critical Hit" becomes a game term, we'll rename the page accordingly. --Leord 16:36, 7 April 2009 (CEST)

attribute page

Flux, the attribute page u edited recently isnt complete... check out pre-set attribute argument... i dont know what you wanted to type there, so i cant help.

You must have hit it during the editing/rewritting process. I save pages as I'm going from time to time to get a look at the overall thing. it's done now. -Flux 06:36, 6 April 2009 (CEST)
i didnt edit it... i was never in attributes editing page... --DxAxxxTyriel 08:08, 6 April 2009 (CEST)
He's talking about this line: "Much digital ink has been spilled on this issue, since it was revealed at Blizzcon, in October 2008. (The first word came from an interview by Diii.net, and immediately resulted in a". It ends mid-sentence with "a", and then the next paragraph begins. --Leord 16:34, 7 April 2009 (CEST)
O I C. I thought you meant the page was generally disorganized, as it was during the editing/writing process. I didn't notice that inc sentence. I was going to add a link to the first reaction to the news, and forgot to go dig up the forum thread. It's edited now. -Flux 00:22, 8 April 2009 (CEST)

Pit Flyers

Aren't the bat winged creatures with the fingernail heads at the Blizzcon 2008 games Pit Flyers? --Butch Audacity Feb 14, 2010 3:52 PM EST

They're a similar type, at least. I made a flyer page for them. They weren't Pit Flyers, at least they didn't spawn from anything like those are concept-art shown to, but they were giant bats. -- Flux 08:39, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Mods section

Leord suggested that I lend a hand fleshing it out. What kind of info do you want there? For what version of D2? Mods living / dead, released / unreleased, in development / complete / abandoned / history, etc.

Also, quite aside from the 'official documentation' that every mod has, Eastern Sun (for example) has a rather extensive wiki of its own. How do these fit in? --Sing in Silence 21:10, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for the offer.
For now, I'd just like basic coverage of all the major (and minor?) D1 and D2 mods. I put some very quick paragraph summations about a few of them on the d2 mods page a few weeks ago. I'd like to keep the descriptions on that page of about that length -- name of the mod, a sentence or two on what makes it special/different/unique, dates when it was being updated, links to official site/forum/download.
Longer term, it would be nice to incorporate more of the mod info into the wiki. Maybe not every word of a mod's wiki, but at least to preserve the bulk of it; mod hosting sites come and go, after all. That content would go on a page devoted to that particular mod. We've got some more coverage of Median XL now, but it's kind of disorganized. Ultimately we'll get a proper mods navigation and boilerplate set up; so one of those nifty navigation tables would show the essential mod features and such.
--Flux 19:59, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
Flux, you commented on his userpage, rather than talk :p It's a little less likely to draw his attention, I think. --Vipermagi 10:47, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Heh. Well, I'm here now. I'm not enormously familiar with most of the mods that are out there, but a couple of lines I should be able to do. Longer term... Well, I'll just start on the shorter term first, shall I? --Sing in Silence 10:59, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
Umm. If noting else, Blizzard vs. Bnetd lets one exercise their circumlocution. Flux, I have a related question, and I don't want to post it here just in case. Do you prefer a PM or an e-mail? --Sing in Silence 15:01, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
We want to cover everything in the wiki, but obviously we have to prioritize our efforts and time. And it's not as if d2 mods, for a game that's 10 years old, are exactly the hottest area of debate or discourse at this point. We would like to cover D3 mods as soon as they emerge, but that's a ways down the road. And send me a forum PM, please. My @diii.net email has been acting up of late. Thx. --Flux 03:54, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
Hey Sing in Silence! I have been slightly absent due to a Starcraft 2 Beta launch. =) I'm gonna do a little work here, and some on SC2 for a while. I think I'll start with this mod thing. Basically we'll make a standardised document on how to do a mod page (also called a "boilerplate", in case Flux did not explain it all). You won't have to use all those headlines etc, just either leave them commented out or comment them out if you don't have the info or don't have the time for them all.
Make sure you give feedback now when I'm working on them as well, since we'll likely be using the same system on the D3 mods further down the line. You'll see some first results tomorrow. =)
--Leord 18:15, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
Okay Flux, will do.
Hello Leord, having fun, I hope? ^_^ I'll take a look at the boilerplate and leave comments on the discussion page. --Sing in Silence 15:35, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Brought to your attention...

http://www.diablowiki.net/User:FreeGayChatroomWebcam Something should probably be done about this... --belushi81x 16:58, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

yeah, it seemed a little lacking on diablo 3 content. Not even any links to the male wizard? ;)
--Flux 19:46, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

New issue in a similar vein... Some Shmuk added links to the Great Ocean page about a "Great Ocean Vacation", or some such... I reverted it to the other revision on file... but i thought I should make sure it had gotten your attention... --belushi81x 03:35, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

He put it back the next day and has now been been IP banned from the wiki. Thanks for catching that, and we do have tools to stop spammers, thankfully. --Flux 14:34, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

New Monsters at Blizzcon 2010

I noticed there were a few new monsters on the Blizzcom 2010 game demo footage including some little laughing critter with a bag and some horned humanoids with quill throwing ability. There were also some new monster designs on the Game Design vids including something nicknamed the "brickhouse." Do you have any more info? --Butch Audacity Oct 28, 2010 8:37 PM EST

Yes, and it'll be added soon. Just a lot of other stuff to do. The little guy was a Treasure Hunter. He had a huge sack of loot which dropped gold constantly as he ran. You could chase him down and kill him and he dropped a bunch of items if you did. --Flux 00:56, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Template:Skillbox

Hey there,

I wasn't able to change the image width for every picture in the Skillbox (might be to stupid D:) well ... the thing is, every skill displayed is way to small.

And its Awkward to edit every image :/ --Nija 06:06, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

The skillbox needs a makeover, now that all the skills are active and there are no more skill trees. I haven't had time to look at it yet, but I'll include enlarging the default thumb image width on the to-do list.
I'm debating doing a trait box along the same lines, for insertion into every traits page. I don't really want to, but that probably means it's a good idea. --Flux 11:11, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
Okay, that wasn't too hard. I removed the tree field from the skill box, and all skill box profile images should appear at 200px by default. You can still specify smaller if you wish; if all we have is some tiny pixelly image from a gameplay movie, for instance. --Flux 11:36, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
Cool, works out. Is it possible to make an exception so the smaller images show the max. size they have? And the traits site... list of known traits is kinda out of place there (so mixed , and actually the same data as when you go on the pages) ,a new category so all traits automatically go in that page would be an idea. Do you have an instant messenger / irc or something like that? --Nija 06:56, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
There might be a way to do that with the profile image size, but I'm not the tech guru to manufacture it. It's just a default width (was 100px, is now 200px) or else something custom specified. And yes, the main traits page needs an update. I'm going to update that list with a master traits list on that page once I finish the individual pages. Every trait in the game listed, with just the shortest of description and which chars have access to it. Why? Why not. Might be fun reading. Plus I have a word file now with a table listing every trait that I've been cross referencing while doing the traits pages, so it'll be fairly easy to prepare.
Please send me a forum PM or [email protected] for personal communication. General wiki questions can be asked here, or you can use the wiki support forum, if that's easier. More people see them there, though this user talk page keeps a visible archive for longer.
OT, but I find it interesting that everyone adds new messages at the bottom of this page. Why not at the top? Newer issues on top would make sense, and be easier to see. I guess it would feel rude or non-chronological to jump ahead of other comments? --Flux 09:38, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Might be the fact that the + automatically sets the text to the bottom ;). I didn't meant it negative, i just wondered that you do the single sites first, because it would be easier to see which you have done on the traits site. Well, i actually can't help that much anyway, since i don't have the game or any trustworthy sources :<. --Nija 10:19, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Oh, all the traits have been up for a couple of weeks. On the Barbarian traits, etc pages. The main traits page is just a mismatch of them that people took out of various previews and panel presentations, before the full lists surfaced after the show. I'm just talking about a big uber list, for the traits page. Anyone could do it; I've just got a word file with all of them already more or less in the format I want to use. -- Flux 12:18, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

More info on the quill throwers

DO you have any more info on the quill throwers? I'll work on a page for them if you got any info. Are they called razorbacks? Butch Audacity Nov 22, 2010 7:25PM EST

I'd cropped out 2 images of them weeks ago, and had the monster name added to the navigation, but hadn't done the page yet. Motivated by your post, I just threw up a very quick one, with the 2 images. Feel free to flesh it out; there's some good footage of the razorbacks in the new HQ ninja video posted in the news today. I noted the time on the forum post that brought the first news of it. --Flux 01:43, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Writings of Abd al-Hazir

I wonder why Blizzard has been dragging it's feet on releasing any more chapters on the Writings of Abd al-Hazir. It seems like they could post some info on some creatures shown in the various demos like the lacuni or tomb vipers. Butch Audacity Dec 17, 2010 7:32PM EST

We'll probably get some more about later acts as more of the game is revealed, and maybe some more about monsters, but I think we've seen most of them already, and that we won't get too many more. Not all of the numbered entries will be seen, leaving us forever with lost writings. And giving Bliz forever the option to add more about future events/issues/expansions/etc.
--Flux 04:12, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Yo

Just wanted to tell you that in my opinion this wiki is the best of the three wikis. Congrats! Xcetron 10:18, 18 April 2011 (CEST)
