Unburied are large, spike-covered undead type monsters. They seem to be some sort of undead "construct".

Unburied are somewhat reminiscent of Thorned Hulks from Diablo II. Both move slowly but hit quickly with huge shoulders and club-like arms. The Unburied are fleshy and undead (hence the name) though, rather than tree like, and they do not possess the Frenzy ability of Thorned Hulks.

Unburied were encountered in the dungeons below the Tristram Cathedral in the BlizzCon 2008 demo and have shown up in the gameplay movies as well. Despite their size they were not especially dangerous. They just hit a bit harder and took a lot more damage than the various smaller types of zombies.

Spells and Abilities

Unburied has no known spells or special abilities.

Background

Nothing is yet known about these "Unburied" creatures. they could be some sort of perverted mix between the Thorned Hulk and human corpses, or just a plain undead construct.

Diablo I Monster

No monster like the Unburied is seen in Diablo I.

Diablo II Monster

The Thorned Hulk of Diablo II holds a resemblance to the Unburied, but the difference is of course that the Hulk is "made" out of wood, and the Unburied is some sort of undead.

Development

The Unburied was shown the first time in the BlizzCon 2008 demo and gameplay movies.
