Season Two or S2 refers to the second Reaper of Souls season, which began Friday, February 13, 2015, ten days after the conclusion of Season One. The game was in version 2.1.2 at the start of the season, but did not start off with a new patch Patch 2.1.2 had gone live a month earlier, around 3 weeks before the conclusion of Season One. (The devs had stated this was unusual timing and would not happen again.)

There were no community buffs or special features the first weekend of Season Two, but players eager for a fresh start still flocked to the servers and most clans saw the highest concurrency rates since the launch of Reaper of Souls, or since the start of Season One.

Season Two Legendary Items[edit | edit source]

The main game change in Season Two were the new legendary items. These included 3 new Legendary Gems, 1 new legendary potion, and a variety of new legendary items and existing legendary items with new legendary affixes.

All legendary items added in Season Two are findable only in S2 for the duration. When the season ends and all the characters merge into one population, all of these items will become findable for Era characters as well.

Legendary Gems[edit | edit source]

There are three new Legendary Gems:

Esoteric Alteration

  • Gain 10% non-Physical damage reduction
  • Upgrade rank grants: +0.5% non-Physical damage reduction
  • Rank 25 unlocks: While below half Life, your resistances to Cold, Fire, Lightning, Poison, and Arcane are increased by 75%

Molten Wildebeest's Gizzard

  • Regenerates 10,000 Life per Second
  • Upgrade rank grants: +1000 Life per Second
  • Rank 25 unlocks: After not taking damage for 4 seconds, gain an absorb shield for 200% of your total Life per Second

Gem of Ease

  • Monster kills grant +500 experience
  • Upgrade rank grants: +50 experience per kill
  • Rank 25 unlocks: Level requirement reduced to 1

The experience per kill scales up on higher difficulty levels, which characters are able to handle solo since their DPS is huge with a level 70 weapon on a level one character. Players who tested this item on the PTR reported hitting level 40+ in under 12 minutes, playing solo.[1]

New Legendary Items[edit | edit source]

All these legendary items follow the usual 4/2 affix rule, or rather they are 4/1, with their second secondary affix the legendary property. None have any other inherent properties, so the four primary affixes are all entirely random.

Crusader
Belt of the Trove, new legendary belt.

  • Every 6-8 seconds, Bombardment is cast on a random nearby enemy
  • View in database

Demon Hunter
Odyssey's End, new legendary bow.

  • Enemies snared by Entangling Shot take 20-25% more damage from all sources
  • View in database

Wizard
Halo of Arlyse, New Legendary Ring

  • Your Ice Armor now provides 50-60% Melee Damage Reduction and automatically casts Frost Nova whenever you take 10% of your Life in damage
  • View in database

Another Wizard item was available during the PTR testing for Season Two, but was not included in the live version. It's not known when this item will make it into the game. Ranslor's Folly

  • Energy Twister periodically pulls in an enemy within 30 yards
  • An enemy can only be pulled in this way once every 5 seconds
  • View in database

Items with New Legendary Affixes[edit | edit source]

Existing items with a new legendary affix. These changes are not retroactive, and players need to find the new item to get the new bonus. (Not that anyone brings old items into a new Season anyway.)

Barbarian
The Undisputed Champion, Mighty belt.

  • Frenzy gains the effect of every rune

Witch Doctor
Wormwood, Staff

  • Locust Swarm is cast on a nearby enemy every second
  • Now rolls with +20-25% Poison skill damage as one of its four primary affixes

Monk
Gungdo Gear, Bracers

  • Exploding Palm's on-death explosion applies Exploding Palm
