It is used in all legendary and set crafting below level 61, and is also required to [[materialenchant]], created by salvaging magical, rare, legendary or set, or legendary items found on the Inferno difficultybelow level 61.
This material is obtained chiefly by salvaging level 1-60 legendary or set items. It can may also be created dropped directly by upgrading level 1-60 [[Volcanic CoalRift Guardians]], the Hell difficulty legendary crafting material.

==Diablo 3 classic==
During Diablo 3's development there were four qualities of crafting material for all four difficulty levels. This system was simplified before release, and the legendary materials for Normal, Nightmare, and Hell difficulty were removed from the game and from crafting recipes.
Fiery Brimstone was made the only legendary quality material in Diablo 3 classic, and it was obtained from salvaging level 60+ legendary items. "Brimmies" could also be obtained, very-occasionally, from salvaging Rare items.
