 The crumbling vault is an exceptionally unique event in that it is the only timed dungeon in the game, and is also the only event a player can actually fail. There are multiple achievements related to this event which will be listed below.
 Clicking on the portal to the vault will initiate a confirmation message, informing the player that it is indeed a timed dungeon. The timer begins once the player selects "ok" and is teleported in.
 The vault has the same tileset and a similar layout to [[The Forgotten Ruins]] for the [[Zoltun Kulle]] [[quest]] to retrieve his head (titled [[Betrayer of the Horadrim]]). It's populated by many fallen, including shamans, stinging swarms, and also the guardian towers that litter these types of dungeons.  Unlike many other events, the vault will have [[elite]] packs of monsters to contend with, and often, with certain [[boss modifiers]], it isn't an easy matter to run past them in order to find the exit of the vault, due to properties like [[jailer]] or [[waller]]. The elites that spawn are also difficulty-appropriate, so it is best to be prepared for a fight.

 The vault treasure room features a resplendent chest and two normal chests.
 While the vault will be crumbling, the player will not take environmental damage. If the player doesn't finish the event in time, a message will pop up informing that the hero has failed the quest. The player doesn't die, as was the original version of the event as seen in [[BlizzCon 2009]].
