Eirena the Enchantress is one of the three classes of followers in Diablo III.

She is a ranged-attacker, a spell-caster, and a buffer, with some spells resembling those of the Wizard.

* Full info about Followers in Diablo III.
** Kormac the Templar.
** Lydon the Scoundrel.

Lore
The follower Eirena has the most shadowy and ambiguous lore out of the three followers. In an interview with FZ.se, Leonard Boyarsky had this to say about her:

<blue>Then we have the Enchantress - Eirena – whose past is shrouded in mystery. She follows a mysterious figure called The Prophet and is good at controlling groups of enemies. The player will learn more about her dark past as they progress through the main story.</blue>

Each follower has their own questline that the player can choose to pursue if they wish, but Eirena's plot is the least known of the three. It is possible that she may have some interaction with elements in Caldeum, as she seems to dip into the same arcane arts as the Wizard.

Gear
The followers in Diablo III are much more restricted in what they can equip from what we've seen in the mercenaries in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction.
The Enchantress is able to equip two-handed staves, two-handed swords, two-handed maces, or two-handed axes, two rings, one amulet and a Enchantress specific item called Enchantress Focuses at level 18. She appears to be brandishing two-handed staff or a wand and a Orb in more than one screenshot.

Like the other followers, Eirena has three tiers of gear progression, which are based upon level.

Skills
Much like the player character classes, followers are able to learn a few skills or spells at specific level milestones. Not much is known about the skills, currently, besides their names and when they are unlocked. Players may choose one skill from each tier. Follower skills cannot be modified by runes, and they only have one rank.

While, oddly enough, gaining some of the Necromancer's abilities from Diablo II, the spell kit for the Enchantress appears to be very similar to that which is seen with the Wizard, namely a fixation on unstable Arcane powers.

Mass Control -- Lob a bulb of magical energy that will hex a group of enemies into chickens for 5 seconds. Hexed enemies are unable to perform offensive actions. Cooldown: 30 seconds.<br><br>
Kormac the Templar is one of the three classes of followers in Diablo III.
As a bit of trivia, the Templar appeared as the jack of spades in the Diablo poker set, emblazoned with the word "Courageous".

The Templar is voiced by Dominic Keating, who was an actor on the Star Trek: Enterprise television series.

Lore
The followers were designed with lore in mind, and Kormac is no exception. Leonard Boyarsky spoke of Kormac in an interview with FZ.se:

<blue>The Templar is called Kormac and he’s a bit like the game's Navy SEAL guy. He’s a member of the Templar order and they’re on this quest – they’re looking for some holy scrolls that were stolen by Archbishop Lazarus in Diablo I. He is good at absorbing damage, so he’s the kind of guy you’d wanna put up front. </blue>

It seems that Lazarus is capable of pissing people off well after his timely demise in Diablo I. Apparently he was also a petty thief, which is one more reason to bash his face in with a mace in D1.

Kormac also introduces the Templar Order to the Diablo series. It is not known how much of an impact they will have on the lore of the story.

Jay Wilson added more about Kormac's introductory quest.

<blue>The Templar you encounter locked away in a dungeon and he’s been betrayed by a member of his order; you help rescue him and help hunt down that member of the order. That kind of builds his confidence in you, he feels that his interests and yours align. At that point he will come with you, unless you don’t want him to, or you get a different follower at another time, he will return to town and he’ll always be available for you to pick up.</blue>

Gear
The followers in Diablo III are much more restricted in what they can equip from what we've seen in the mercenaries in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction.
The Templar is able to equip shields, one-handed axes, dagger, one-handed maces, one-handed spears, one-handed swords, two rings, one amulet and a Templar specific item called relic at level 18. He appears to be brandishing one-handed spears and perhaps a sword in more than one screenshot.

Like the other followers, Kormac has three tiers of gear progression, which are based upon level.

<blue>They are definitely smarter and use their skills contextually, the Heal for example of both the Templar and the Scoundrel, <br>they will use automatically when you are low health, so you don't have to worry about telling him to heal you or anything like that.</blue>

Conversations
Act 1
Becoming a Templar

:Demon Hunter: Were you raised as a templar in the order?
No. Our scripture says, "As a farmer reaps his wheat, so must the order harvest and purify the weeds."
:Demon Hunter: My initiation was less formal. They asked me if I wanted to hunt demons, and I said yes.
That would be simpler. But your order destroys monsters. Mine redeems them.

:Witch Doctor: I do not know much of your order. Were you born a templar?
No. Our scripture says, "As a farmer reaps his wheat, so must the order harvest and purify the weeds."
:Witch Doctor: You say you are a weed. I think that even weeds have their purpose under the sun and moon.
No. They strangle. They corrupt. And the crop fails. I was lucky to be taken when I was.

Sins

:Demon Hunter: I have seen enough monsters to know that you aren't one of them. Why d you feel guilty about your past?
:Witch Doctor: The spirits say that you hang a mantle of shame on your shoulders. What crimes haunt you?
I can not tell you.
:Demon Hunter: There are some things that will haunt you forever if you never speak of them.
:Witch Doctor: You are a good man, the spirits say. Unburden your heart, my friend.
You misunderstand me. We are literally unable to recall our pasts. The inquisitors stripped my sins and the memory of them from me, leaving me pure.

Initiation

:Demon Hunter: I don't fully understand your order's motivations. Why do they take your past from you?
:Witch Doctor: Tell me more of your order. Why do they steal your past?

Our initiation blinds us to our sinful pasts so that we might clearly see the future and prepare for the final battle.

:Demon Hunter: And how does your order purge your memory?
:Witch Doctor: By what magic does your order strip a man of his memory?

I was chained to a wall and beaten. By the third day, I was mad from pain and hunger. This is when the whipping began. I was told I relived all of my transgressions, everything that brought me tainted joy. The whip took away that joy, then the sin, leaving me pure.

:Demon Hunter: Restraint bolsters the weak, not pain. You have suffered needlessly.
:Witch Doctor: In the Teganze, corrupt priests sacrificed men for their personal gain. Even they did not expect the men to be grateful.

Don't you understand? The templar order is trying to protect humanity from extinction. What is my pain against that goal?

Lessons

:Demon Hunter: Becoming a demon hunter is not as simple as making a choice. We are survivors.
Indeed. Discipline is at the heart of all great endeavors.
:Demon Hunter: Yes. It was discipline that forced me to face my nightmares and conquer my fears. I think that, deep down, you fear that your order is lying to you. That you were not the sinner that they say you were. Face that fear. Find the truth.
I... cannot lie. That has occurred to me. But if it were true, it would ruin everything I fight for.

:Witch Doctor: In my time, I have often argued with the spirits. I did not always believe they knew the true path for me.
I do not understand.
:Witch Doctor: No, you do not. When the spirits and I look at you, we agree. We say, "This is a good man. There is no darkness in him. There never was." Confront what you call your sins, and I say you will find nothing there. Test your faith and prove me wrong.
I... cannot lie. That has occurred to me. But if it were true, it would ruin everything I fight for.

Seeking the Truth

I have considered what we have discussed, and you are correct. I know little about my past beyond what my order has told me. But what doest it matter? Look what they have done for me. They have turned me into a living weapon, a light against darkness.
:Witch Doctor: I am not sure that the darkness you speak of is not in the order you serve. You must be able to remember your past to know the truth.
I wouldn't know how to begin. How do I seek memories that have been taken from me?
:Witch Doctor: Ground otatozo root would uncover every memory in your head. Or make you blind. It is a dangerous root.
You may be right. I will find a way to take back my memories and exonerate my order.

Lyndon is a thief hailing from Kingsport, and a braggart who takes a more humorous approach to the game's setting.
Leonard Boyarsky spoke of Lyndon in an interview with FZ.se:

<blue>The Scoundrel is from Kingsport. He’s kind of disgraced and has been kicked out of the thieves’ guild. He’s a real thief in both mind and heart. His name is Lyndon and he acts kind of like the classical DPS character, he’s a guy that does damage from a distance.</blue>

Gear
The followers in Diablo III are much more restricted in what they can equip from what we've seen in the mercenaries in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction.
The Scoundrel is able to equip bows, two-handed crossbows, two rings, one amulet and a Scoundrel specific item called Scoundrel Tokens at level 21.

Like the other followers, the Scoundrel has three tiers of gear progression, which are based upon level.
The final tier of armor for the Scoundrel bears remarkable similarity to that of the Demon Hunter at later levels, the main difference being the Scoundrel's manly mustache.

Skills
Much like the player character classes, followers are able to learn a few skills or spells at specific level milestones. Not much is known about the skills, currently, besides their names and when they are unlocked. Players may choose one skill from each tier. Follower skills cannot be augmented nor benefit from runes, and they only have one rank, as opposed to player skills.

As the Enchantress draws many parallels to the Wizard in terms of spells, the same holds true for the Scoundrel, having many similar abilities to the Demon Hunter.

Fan Favorite?
Some fans critiqued Kormac as following too closely to the art direction of the WarCraft series, and others commented on the lack of clothing and pop-star sensibilities of Eirena. However, Lyndon seems to draw unanimous approval due, perhaps in part, to his excellently-groomed mustache, armor theme similar to that of the gothic Demon Hunter, and the in-born charisma of a thief.

Conversations
Act I
Lyndon's Origins

:Demon Hunter: So, where are you from?
:Witch Doctor: Where do you come from?

Kingsport, the city by the sea. Home to the great merchant fleets and endless nets of reeking fish!

:Demon Hunter: I've seen it. What did you do there?
:Witch Doctor: And your trade?

I am between jobs at the moment.

:Demon Hunter: Dishonorable jobs, no doubt.
:Witch Doctor: That is not an honest answer.

Nonsense. I am the most honest thief you will ever meet. Do you ever think abotu making positive changes in your life? I don't.

The Unrepentant Rogue

:Demon Hunter: Why do you waste your time chasing after women?
:Witch Doctor: It is strange that you waste your time in pursuit of women.

Waste?! Time is scarcely better spent.

:Demon Hunter: Not when you discard them so readily.
:Witch Doctor: But you stay with none of them.

I've only found one worth keeping... but she slipped away from me.

:Demon Hunter: That's no excuse to bother every other woman you see.
:Witch Doctor: I see. You bother women to ease the sting.

Well, no. Sometimes they should bother me!

Kingsport Fighting

:Demon Hunter: Who trained you to fight?
My brother taught me when we were younger. He thought the crossbow was the best weapon for me since it would give me time to run away if I botched things too badly.
:Demon Hunter: The crossbow is not a weapon for cowards.
Hah, did I offend you?
:Demon Hunter: Shut up. Where is your brother now?
Oh, he's still in Kingsport. I expect he'll be there a good long time.

:Witch Doctor: You are a skilled fighter.
My brother taught me when we were younger. He thought the crossbow was the best weapon for me since it would give me time to run away if I botched things too badly.
:Witch Doctor: Where is he now.
Oh, he's still in Kingsport. I expect he'll be there a good long time.

Blood Ties

:Witch Doctor: Do you have any other family?

My brother and I were orphans we only had each other.

:Witch Doctor: Is he a thief also?

No. He was a member of the city guard.

:Witch Doctor: That seems odd.

Not as much as you might think. Until the end, that is.

Sticky Fingers

::Demon Hunter: Why did you become a thief?
:Witch Doctor: How did you become a thief?

That's a long and terrible story that y-you wouldn't want to hear.

::Demon Hunter: You probably fancied something but couldn't afford it.
:Witch Doctor: You found something you liked and couldn't afford?

Basically.

::Demon Hunter: Try to be more reasonable in the future.
:Witch Doctor: Perhaps you should be more raesonable.

Oh, there was nothing reasonable about her.

Difficult Decisions

Do you ever doubt your choices?

:Witch Doctor: I ponder them before, not after.

Things never seem to turn out like I hope they will.

:Witch Doctor: Trust the spirits. They will guide you.

Try living in the slums before you lecture me.

:Witch Doctor: I see you carry great pain.
