Julien previously worked at Ubisoft as a 3D artist on Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones for the Gamecube. Julien joined Blizzard some time between 2005 and 2009.

Artwork[edit | edit source]

Julien has a personal blog which has the story behind the development of the vinyl toy he designed for Blizzard called n00bz (see below).

n00bz[edit | edit source]

Julien pitched the idea to Blizzard for a canvas made out of a toy-shaped Starcraft marine (see also urban vinyl). The Blizzard licensing team liked the idea and decided to mass produce the n00bz for Blizzcon 2009 and give the exclusive Raynor design to Blizzcon 2009 attendees. Blizzard also held an internal contest for its employees to paint a blank n00bz.[1] The winning entries would get their design mass produced for sale at Blizzcon 2009 and at the online Blizzard store. Julien was originally going to be a judge for the contest, but he wanted to compete and create a design for the n00bz. The judges evaluated submissions without knowledge of the artist behind the work, and Julien's design was one of the three winners chosen. His winning design was called "Murloc Madness".[2][3]

The other winning entries were Ragnaros (by John Butkas, a Senior Animator on World of Warcraft) and Ghoulash (by Oliver Chipping, a 3D Artist on Diablo III).
